Ceylon tea is a well known product in the world. World’s finest tea is come from Sri Lanka (Ceylon).
Based on the height of growing location, Ceylon tea is categorized as two major types as high grown tea ( plantations located over 4,000 feet from sea level) and low grown tea ( plantations located up tp 2,000 feet).
There are three major regions can be identified in deep consideration. Up-country (hill-country) tea from plantations over 4,000 feet from Sea level, mid country tea from locations between 2,000 to 4,000 feet and low country tea from locations up to 2,000 feet from Sea level are major identifications. The limit of up country tea plantations go up to 6,000 feet in Nuwara Eliya, Badulla and Bandarawela areas.
Tea plantations in mid-country is located in Kandy and surrounding areas. This tea is used as full-boiled tea. It has dark reddish-brown colour and the taste is stronger than hill-country tea. Ceylon mid country tea is a best choice of Americans and Australians tea lowers.
This tea product is comes from plantations located at Talawakelle, a region located at approximately 3,900 feet height from the Sea level.
The Orange Pekoe doesn’t refer to an orange flavored tea. Orange Pekoe is a good quality tea, consisting of large and slightly open leaf pieces. This tea offers freshness, aroma and light-strong taste of genuine Ceylon black tea.
